What began as a small one vessel tugboat company in Chalmette, Louisiana back in 1947 has today grown into one of the gulf coast’s premier oilfield service and construction companies. After relocating the company in 1959 to Intracoastal City, LA, the Broussard family expanded their service offerings by first developing six acres of low-lying marshland to now over one mile of developed waterfront property with an ever growing fleet of towing and oilfield construction vessels and equipment.
The ever changing construction and towing environment presents many challenges, we have grown and changed with the times and have consistently upgraded our equipment and trained and developed our experienced workforce to meet those demands head on.
We enjoy one of the lowest employee turnover ratios in our industry. Several third generation employees now serve our customers just as their parents and grandparents did in the late 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. We firmly believe that it is this experienced workforce, coupled with our history and reputation of delivering quality services at a fair price that has allowed us to serve our customer base for over 70 years.
HSE & QUALITY
Health & Safety
Recognizing that our employees are our greatest asset, we have developed and maintain a progressive HSEMS (Health, Safety and Environmental Management System) which regularly meets, and in many cases exceeds regulatory requirements. Staffed with three full-time safety professionals, our HSE department’s activities include but are not limited to documented onsite inspections, in depth documented audits, onsite tailgate safety meetings, customer and regulatory training and field employee development.
All safe and productive projects begin with a well-qualified, trained and drug free workforce. This is why Broussard Brothers maintains an aggressive drug and alcohol testing program that meets all regulatory requirements under USCG, PHMSA and FMCSA in addition to our own internal non-DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements up to and including hair follicle testing where applicable. Testing includes pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, return-to-duty and follow-up testing.
We are committed to a continuing effort to manage the oil and gas as well as the chemicals we use in our operations in a manner that is protective of the environment and the health and safety of the public and our employees.

To abide by all laws, rules and regulations of federal, state, and local governmental agencies concerning the proper handling, labeling, reporting and disposal of hazardous substances.
To recognize and respond to community concerns about chemicals used in our operations
To train our employees to recognize that they are the key to maintaining a safe and healthy environment
To establish guidelines for company management and employees to follow in the safe handling of hazardous materials used in company operations, and to prevent injury and illness to employees and damage to property.
The objective of the BBI Quality Control program is proactive quality with the aggressive pursuit of zero defects. This objective relies not only on the knowledge of correct procedures and specifications, but also on the right attitude among everyone involved in the process. The right attitude is fostered through positive leadership. By encouraging leadership in the use of a proactive quality program, we can unleash a wide range of talents and abilities among all employees and create a positive attitude towards quality.
We believe that every job must be done right the first time therefore quality is expected to begin at the craft level of every project. As such, each employee is responsible to perform work at the highest possible level of quality. It is our expectation that all employees will self-inspect their own work as the first and most important step of the quality assurance program. It is not expected that quality can be inspected into a project. Quality has to begin with the qualified worker using the correct materials and equipment, doing their job in a craftsman-like manner to meet all of the job requirements with no rework.
The objective of this procedure is to ensure that quality product and service will be supplied. All employees are responsible to identify quality problem areas and to initiate, recommend and implement solutions to those problems.
